Free Agent DeAndre Jordan Lands Out West With New Deal

After 17 seasons, veteran center DeAndre Jordan isn't the beast on the glass that he used to be, but he can still offer 10-12 minutes a night as a back-end of the rotation big and bring a leadership role to the bench and the locker room. It took until the season was underway, but the 37-year-old has finally landed himself a gig for 2025-26, signing a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.

It's a one-year, $3.6 million veteran's minimum deal for Jordan, who led the NBA in rebounding twice, over a decade ago, ripping down 15 boards a game at his pinnacle in 2014-15 with the Lob City Los Angeles Clippers, and 15.2 rebounds three seasons later.

Pelicans head coach Willie Green was a teammate of Jordan's on those Clippers for a few years, likely helping to lead to the signing.

“I know what my role has been over the past few years and I think that it'll continue to be that way," Jordan said after joining New Orleans. "I'm here to be a great locker room presence, be a veteran leader and then when my numbers called, be ready to play."

In recent years, Jordan has been a bit player for the Denver Nuggets, playing 12.8 minutes per game, with 4.2 ppg and 4.9 rebounds. He holds the all-time NBA career record with a 67.4% shooting mark from the field.

He's also looking forward to helping mentor the young players on the Pels, bringing his wealth of experience in the Association.
