Blockbuster AD Trade Coming From Mavs After GM Firing?
Not many around the league, certainly not around Dallas, were surprised when the Mavericks fired general manager Nico Harrison this week. After all, he is the man who traded superstar Luka Dončić in the most shocking trade in recent NBA memory. But now we’re hearing that the man he brought in in that Dončić deal, Anthony Davis, could be the next to go in another blockbuster move.
The Mavs are expected to work with Anthony Davis' camp over next 2 months to decide whether to pursue in-season trade, per @TheSteinLine.

As cited by Adam Wells on Bleacher Report, Tim MacMahon of ESPN’s The Hoop Collective podcast, stated that the Mavs will "at least" hold discussions about trading Davis.
‘The only logical path’ for the Mavs is to trade Anthony Davis
“It’s the only logical and prudent path this team should take,” added MacMahon. “They have to prioritize Cooper Flagg, and that frankly means they have to prioritize being as bad as they can this season continue to let Cooper have the ball, and continue to develop his game…
“The top of this (2026) Draft has several potentially special players in it, and they need to maximize their chances of getting one of those players, and getting lucky in the Draft again.” i.e. Tank.
But the return in a Davis trade would certainly not be what Mavs fans would like. “He’s already in his early to mid 30s, and he has all sorts of injury issues. So, he is still a good player, but they are not going to get Luka Dončić back for him.”
AD won’t be allowed to return to lineup until team governor says so
But all of that trade talk will be on hold for a while for a couple of reasons: 1) “Street Clothes” (h/T Charles Barkley], is once again on the shelf, where he spends much of his time in the NBA. This time, a left calf strain kept Davis out of his seventh consecutive game on Wednesday; Furthermore, AD won’t be allowed to return until team governor Patrick Dumont gives the thumbs up.
In addition, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that one Western Conference source told him that Davis "will need weeks of sustained good play without injury interruption" for any team to seriously consider making a trade for him."
Stein, in fact, also suggested that the Mavericks are expected to work with the Davis camp about whether to move him elsewhere during the season.
Good times in Big D.
