Victor Oladipo Making Another Attempt at Getting Back to NBA

He’s a two-time NBA All-Star, but former 2nd overall pick Victor Oladipo has had a heck of a time trying to get back to the NBA the past few years. He last played in the 2022-23 season, but injuries once again derailed his time in the Association. Now, at the age of 33, Oladipo has joined the Milwaukee Bucks’ affiliate in the G League, the Wisconsin Herd, in his latest attempt to make it back to the NBA.

His latest major injury troubles wiped out his chances at an NBA comeback over the last couple of seasons, after tearing his left patellar tendon while playing for the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2023 playoffs. He had become a solid bench player that season in South Beach, after playing no more than 36 games in any of the previous four seasons. But his time in Miami that year was cut short at just 42 games.

Oladipo played for the Guangzhou Loong-Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association this fall, in another attempt at showcasing his wares. He was seen by many NBA scouts as the Lions toured the preseason circuit and played some NBA teams.

During a 10-year NBA career, Oladipo has averaged 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists on 44% shooting. He was named an All-Star in 2018 and 2019 with the Indiana Pacers, the peak of his career. But a ruptured quadriceps tendon ended his run in Indy.
