Free Agent Malik Beasley Finally Seems To Have Found A Home

As the runner-up for Sixth Man of the Year, Malik Beasley figured to enter free agency as a sought-after commodity. But gambling allegations have clouded his name for the past many months, and there were no offers coming his way from an NBA team.

Now he's on the verge of finally landing himself a deal — in Serbia.

It would be a six-month, $2 million contract — a far cry from the many tens of millions that the 29-year-old was looking at earning in the NBA had this alleged gambling scandal not been hanging over him.

Although it was reported in August that Beasley is no longer a target of the federal gambling investigation conducted by the Eastern District of New York, he is still under investigation by the NBA for gambling-related issues from back in the 2023-24 season while he was with the Milwaukee Bucks. However, his lawyer has insisted that he is cooperating with the NBA in their investigation. But after seeing Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier get arrested in October on illegal sports betting charges, teams have remained understandably hesitant to sign Beasley, who still could face league discipline, at the very least.

Last year in Detroit, Beasley averaged 16.3 points per game coming off the bench for the Pistons, while firing threes at a career-best 41.6% clip. He averaged 27.8 minutes per game, but started just 18 of 82 contests.

It appears he might be ready to continue his career in the EuroLeague, if the reports from eurohoops.net are accurate. The team, Partizan, is embroiled in drama, after the decision this past week of legendary coach Zeljko Obradovic to step down.
