You Won't Believe The Trade Offers for Ja Morant

Ja Morant has played his last game for the Memphis Grizzlies. This much seems to be agreed upon by almost every NBA observer. But exactly what team would take him on is another question.

"(Morant is) Flagrantly available," said insider Brian Windhorst. "Like, he couldn't be more available. If Ja had just one year left on his contract, he could have been traded months ago. But he's got two years left (with a total of $87 million owed).

"So if you trade for him and it doesn't work out, you're left with an unpalatable amount of risk," said Windy.

The Grizzlies have had difficulty finding trade partners for Ja Morant, no question. How much trouble? The offers aren't necessarily about who the Grizzlies would be getting back, but what other assets they'll have to send to the acquiring team to take him off their hands.

“Teams were asking Memphis to attach picks in order to take Ja Morant, not the other way around," said Kendrick Perkins. "They were asking Memphis, ‘Hey man, attach picks with Ja and we'll take him.’”

New Orleans is out. Minnesota is out. Sacramento is out.

Perhaps the one team that could still be interested in grabbing Ja is the Miami Heat. That would form an intriguing Big 3 with Giannis and Bam Adebayo.
