NBA Trade Rumor: Giannis Antetokounmpo Heads to Heat in Proposed Trade

The Milwaukee Bucks continue to struggle despite the presence of Giannis Antetokounmpo. How much longer can they carry on this charade of posing as a wannabe contender with the supporting cast that surrounds the Greek Freak?

A trade—at some point—is still a likely scenario, and when a superstar NBA player wants a move, Miami is often a target destination.

Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report has proposed a deal that the Bucks would have to consider if they put Antetokounmpo on the market. In fact, he writes, this trade "needs to happen." For the sake of both franchises.

Miami Heat Acquire:

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks Acquire:
  • Tyler Herro
  • Kel'el Ware
  • Terry Rozier
  • 2029 first-round pick
  • 2031 first-round pick
  • 2028 first-round swap
  • 2030 first-round swap
  • 2032 first-round swap

Pat Riley and the Heat would finally get their superstar, title-winning MVP that they've craved for so long. And combined with Bam Adebayo and a couple of other contributors to past NBA champions in Andrew Wiggins and Norm Powell, the Heat could be on to something.

The Heat, in this hypothetical offer, would "surrender virtually every shred of first-round draft equity they have," writes Hughes, in order to "make a real run at the East crown for the foreseeable future. Miami can worry about a bare asset cupboard later, probably after Antetokounmpo attracts other star role players to South Beach in 2026 free agency."

For the Bucks, they would get a legit scorer in Herro, a very promising young big man in Ware, and a slew of first-round draft assets to build for the future.

"Antetokounmpo is already 31, and the Bucks could seize control of Miami's drafts when he's well into his decline phase.

"This is not a perfect trade, but it's the one we all need. Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have dragged their feet for too long, delaying the inevitable."

The Bucks have tried the Damian Lillard thing, to no avail. They tried the Myles Turner thing this past offseason. Nada. It is time to move on. Milwaukee currently sits at 17-24, out of even the Play-In.
