This opens up a roster spot for the Heat to sign a player for the Play-In next week.
Rozier was placed on leave by the NBA in October after his arrest following federal indictments. His entire $26.6 million salary was guaranteed by an aribitrator for the 2025-26 season, although the money has been placed in escrow as the case has still not gone to trial.
Rozier had been placed on leave by the NBA last October
Rozier had to give up his passport and put up his $6M Florida home, as the case is still pending. Plea talks and discovery continue in the federal prosecution of Rozier and other co-conspirators. A U.S. District Judge will hear oral arguments on a motion to dismiss on April 27. The judge must determine whether Rozier’s alleged conduct constitutes a federal crime or if it should be simply considered a sports book violation.
The core of Terry Rozier’s arrest stems from a March 2023 game that saw a spike in bets on his under. He exited that game after just nine minutes, citing a foot injury.
The 32-year-old last played in the NBA in 2024-25, averaging 10.6 points and 2.6 assists in 25 minutes a night for the Heat. Across 10 seasons in the league, Rozier averaged 13.9 ppg, 3.5 assists and shot 36% from three-point range. He was a first-round pick (16th overall) by the Boston Celtics in the 2015 NBA Draft.
The Terry Rozier era in Miami—and the NBA we presume—is over.
