Breaking: Warriors Sign Free Agent Veteran
The Golden State Warriors have added some depth down low, by hitting the free agent market to sign five-year veteran center Charles Bassey.
The Golden State Warriors plan to sign Charles Bassey to a deal, league sources told @hoopshype. Bassey has averaged 4.2 points on 63% shooting from the field and 4.2 rebounds in 10.8 minutes during five NBA seasons combined with the 76ers, Spurs, Grizzlies, and Celtics. pic.twitter.com/njDROkpwFP

Bassey was a second-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, and has averaged 4.2 points on 63% shooting from the field and 4.2 rebounds in 121 games spanning five NBA seasons. He averages 10.8 minutes a night.
Bassey has played in a total of just eight games this season, for three different teams—Memphis, Philadelphia and Boston. He was a fringe member of the San Antonio Spurs frontcourt rotation for the previous three seasons.
The 6'10" athletic center will add some depth at the 'five' spot for Golden State, as Al Horford has missed the last 11 games with a strained right soleus. His return date has been a mystery throughout his absence, though a new report from the team claims that he will be re-evaluated "early next week." The signing of Bassey, however, puts a damper on hopes that this could mean Horford is nearing a return.
The absence of Quinten Post, a 7-footer who had been handling 17 minutes a game of center duties (35 starts in 67 games), could also be the reason for the Bassey signing.
