NBA Trade Rumor: Phoenix Suns Find New Co-Star For Devin Booker in Proposed Deal

The Phoenix Suns broke up their two-superstar duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker by trading KD to the Houston Rockets last summer. But Booker, despite continuing to put the team on his back, needs a co-star if the Suns are really to rise in the West.

Enter Ja Morant? The Memphis Grizzlies are ready to move on from the explosive and mercurial point guard after yet another season of discontent. Morant has reportedly told teammates and others that he'll never play another game for the Grizzlies.

And according to an insider, there will be several "desperate teams" willing to take on the oft-troubled Morant. Are the Suns one of those?

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report has proposed a big-name swap that would team up Book & Ja in the desert:

Phoenix Suns Receive:

  • PG Ja Morant
  • SF Jaylen Wells

Memphis Grizzlies Receive:

  • SG Jalen Green

As Swartz notes, "With precious few draft picks or young talent to trade, a team like the Suns may be forced to take a gamble on someone as gifted as Morant in order to make a real playoff run in the West."

Morant would join his old Grizzlies teammate Dillon Brooks in Phoenix, and Swartz says they still maintain a solid friendship.

More importantly, moving Booker off the point would allow him to better thrive in his natural two-guard spot. Together, they'd form an explosive backcourt that would be unrivaled in the NBA.

Green is still just 24, and though this would be his second major move in a year, he could take the offensive reins in Memphis and call it his team.
