NBA Trade Rumor: 3-Team Blockbuster Sends Giannis AND Kawhi to Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are the leading candidates to land Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason. But that's not good enough for Pat Riley and Co. Reports have them also looking to secure Kawhi Leonard as well. That would add 3 NBA Finals MVP awards to their squad.

Scoop B. Robinson writes that "the latest blueprint to rock the NBA landscape doesn’t just land one superstar in South Beach—it lands two."

If this were to come to fruition, Leonard would join not only Giannis, but also Kawhi's Toronto Raptors 2019 champion teammate Norman Powell in Miami. To go along with Bam Adebayo, the Heat would be back in the "superteam" business.

Here's the three-team blockbuster that Scoop B. says would get it done :

Miami Heat receives:

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo
  • Kawhi Leonard

Los Angeles Clippers receive:

  • Andrew Wiggins
  • Nikola Jovic
  • 2031 first-round pick

Milwaukee Bucks receive:

  • Tyler Herro
  • Davion Mitchell
  • Jaime Jaquez Jr.
  • Kel’el Ware
  • 2026 first-round pick
  • 2029 first-round pick

Per Scoop B, this proposed trade would leave the Heat with a superstar Big 3, but would also "completely hollow out its depth and future asset pantry." Who they would get to play around Giannis, Kawhi & Bam (and Powell) would remain to be seen. Though a number of MLE-type and minimum salary players would probably trip over each other to be a role player with that group.

The Clippers would continue their rebuild, obtaining the extremely skilled youngster Jovic, plus a first-rounder, and a legit two-way wing in Wiggins who could help be a mentor for their other young stars like Darius Garland and Bennedict Mathurin.

The Bucks could be the big winners in this 3-team trade

As for the Bucks, they might come out ahead on this deal more than either of the other teams. They would "walk away with a massive, future-proofing haul of young talent and immediate draft assets," writes Scoop.

Ware is a prized young big man on the way up, Jaquez Jr. was runner up for Sixth Man of the Year this season, Herro is a bucket-getter, and Mitchell is a primo, feisty defender in the backcourt. And don't forget about the two upcoming first-rounders.
Milwaukee would still be a playoff contender (safe to say, even better than they were this season, which was the 11-seed in the East).

Miami is getting ever-closer to closing on Giannis, let's see if they can pull off a two-fer and land Kawhi as well.
