Celtics & Cavaliers Eyeing Blockbuster Deal

Now that the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes is over, it's time for the newest installment of the Jaylen Brown Drama. The Boston Celtics are stuck with a star player whom they've very publicly tried to trade away for other superstars twice in the last four years. It's almost inevitable that they have to deal him.

There are obviously a number of teams that would love to get their hands on Brown, and the latest rumor has the Celtics trying to turn him into Evan Mobley from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

And while we've heard plenty about the Cavs having no interest in trading Mobley, that was before Brown became available. Could a Brown for Mobley trade work?

There is definitely something to the rumor of Boston trying to turn Brown into a star big man. Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix says he spent a lot of time talking to rival teams about what Boston would be interested in.

"The Celtics are closer than ever to trading Jaylen Brown," said Mannix, and “The name and the team that came back to me a lot: Evan Mobley and the Cleveland Cavaliers.”

“Boston continued to discuss Brown trades on Tuesday, two sources familiar with the talks tell Sports Illustrated," Mannix wrote. "Many of the conversations were initiated by rival teams, sources say. Some were brokered by the Celtics. ‘They are hunting a big man,’ says a rival executive. ‘And they are willing to trade [Brown] to get it.’”

It certainly appears that we're at a point of no return for Brown and the Celtics. Now it's just a matter of figuring out where he lands next.

Brown has three years remaining on a super-max contract at about $180 million.
