Report: Boston Celtics Open To Jaylen Brown Trade

The Boston Celtics are now apparently in a two-team race with the Miami Heat to land Giannis Antetokounmpo. And whether it's in a deal for Giannis or not, we have a report that the C's are willing to put everyone on the table—except Jayson Tatum.

According to Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports, what he's heard means, by process of elimination, that Jaylen Brown is "available."

I have heard Boston is shopping people around a lot right now, that Boston is making calls. Boston is open to trading anybody besides Jayson Tatum. And that doesn't necessarily mean they land Giannis at the end of the day. But I do believe, based off all the conversations I've had, that the Celtics are in on Giannis. And that they are making a push on him and that this seems to be currently a two-team race with (Miami) to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo.

He adds that Giannis will be traded after the Finals and before the Draft, which is just two weeks away. So this is becoming very, very real and very, very imminent.

Brown was the Finals MVP for Boston in 2024, and he stepped it up to new levels this past regular season when he was the main man for most of the year as Tatum recovered from a ruptured Achilles tendon. Tatum made it back miraculously quickly, in time to play near the end of this season. But Boston lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Would they use Brown to try to land Giannis? Does that even make any sense?

Miami's offer for Giannis, which has been revealed, is a very attractive package, and it would be hard for Boston to top it... Unless, of course, Jaylen Brown were somehow included.
