Wild New Updates On Giannis Antetokounmpo & Jaylen Brown Talks

As the NBA Draft is only four days away, the Milwaukee Bucks' self-imposed deadline to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo is almost here. And the latest update has the Milwaukee Bucks being "underwhelmed" by the offers it has received, while the Boston Celtics are ready to do a one-for-one swap of Jaylen Brown for the Greek Freak.

Sam Amick writes in The Athletic on Friday:

“The Celtics have gone to great lengths to avoid the elephant in the room here, but Jaylen Brown would need to be part of any deal for Antetokounmpo. And if Boston had its way, it seems, the conversation would start and end there with a one-for-one swap of fellow All-Stars who are still in their respective primes (Antetokounmpo is 31; Brown is 29). Lest anyone forgets, Brown is coming off his best season yet, finishing sixth in MVP voting.”

Amick goes on to add that the Bucks are likely not interested in building around Brown as their centerpiece, and would perhaps "rebuild by sending him elsewhere for young players and picks." But either way, it doesn't sound like Brown for Giannis gets this done from Milwaukee's perspective.

As for what the Bucks would do next if Boston (or Miami, the frontrunner) don't push all their chips in for what Milwaukee wants, it remains to be seen, and we'll have to wait until that first selection of the 2026 NBA Draft is called out by commissioner Adam Silver next Tuesday night.

"It was a calculated risk to push this massive decision into the summertime, when the hope was that the market would improve and the line of serious suitors would be a country mile long. That does not appear to be the case," writes Amick.
