Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Arranging Buyout To Head To New Team

KCP was with the Lakers in 2020 when LeBron & Co. won the NBA title in the bubble.
The 3-and-D specialist will now bring his perimeter defense, off-ball movement, and floor spacing to the Sixers, where he’ll try to win his 3rd championship. He was also a key part of the Denver Nuggets when they won it all in 2023.
But Philly has a bit of work to do before they can fit KCP on their roster. NBA salary cap expert Keith Smith, the 76ers must make yet another roster move before they can complete the reunion.
NBA cap expert Keith Smith wrote, “To sign Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also, they’ll have to move off another player too. Definitely a couple of additional moves coming from Philadelphia before it’s all put together.”
Caldwell-Pope had a down season offensively this past year, as he averaged 8.4 points, 2.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 51 appearances for Memphis. His 31.6% mark from three-point range was the worst of his career. But at just 33, it's not like days as a shooter have completely passed him by. We would expect a bit of a return to at least his career mark of over 36%.
