Blockbuster 8-Player Proposed Deal Would Boost Steph Curry's Title Chances

The Golden State Warriors have been looking high and low for a new co-star for Steph Curry, ever since Jimmy Butler went down to a devastating torn ACL. He isn't expected back until the new year, well into the 2026-27 season.

In the meantime, the Dubs haven't done a single thing this offseason to bolster their lineup, aside from adding their first-round pick Yaxel Lendeborg (who looks like a good one).

But a proposed eight-player blockbuster, from Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report, would inject not a superstar, but some significant talent into the Warriors' lineup. It would go down like this:

Golden State Warriors Acquire:
  • Tyler Herro
  • Myles Turner
  • Jaime Jaquez Jr.
  • Kevin Porter Jr.

Milwaukee Bucks Acquire:
  • Jimmy Butler
  • Brandin Podziemski
  • Moses Moody
  • Will Richard
  • 2027 first-round pick (top-4 protected)
  • 2031 first-round pick

This would be a "win-now" move for Golden State, and give Curry & Co. a real shot at being competitive this season.

"The main appeal is clear," Hughes writes. "Butler and Moody are coming off injuries and highly unlikely to make an impact until it's too late. From a 2026-27 standpoint, the Warriors are getting four useful players in exchange for Butler and the equivalent of half a rotation player."

Curry would get 4 legit pieces in proposed Warriors blockbuster with Bucks

Herro would give Curry a dynamic backcourt scoring partner once again, while Turner would bring yet another stretch 5 to the team, but, let's face it, a truly reliable one on a nightly basis, unlike the two they currently have. He brings it at both ends of the floor, and has played over 70 games each of the last three seasons.

Kristaps Porzingis's health is in question at the best of times; he played only 15 games for them last season, while Al Horford is 40, and only managed 45 games.

Jacquez Jr. was runner-up for the NBA's Sixth Man, and can provide offense when they need it.

Finally, in summing up, Hughes writes, "Golden State can afford to lose Podziemski, Moody and Richard because none address the shot-creation void as effectively as the incoming Milwaukee alternatives."

As for the Bucks, they would get a couple of first-rounders and a solid, promising young player in Podziemski, while Richard is another youngster they could try to cash in on.

In Herro & Jacquez Jr., they'd be flipping two of the main pieces in the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to acquire two more firsts, which would make their final haul for the Greek Freak five first-rounders and a pick swap, in addition to a young center of the future in Kel'el Ware.

Sure, it's all hypothetical, but for both teams, there's a lot of sense to this proposal.
