Bulls-Hawks Trade Sees Buddy Hield On The Move For 2nd Time This Week

In exchange, the Bulls send Rob Dillingham to Charlotte.
Chicago adds a veteran shooter in Hield, while the Hornets create a $9.4 million trade exception and take in $3 million less in salary. The Bulls go over the salary cap but are still $34.6M away from the luxury tax.
Hield is an elite three-point shooter with a career 39.5% mark. Even though they acquired Norman Powell this offseason, Chicago still needed more shooting around Josh Giddey, Caleb Wilson, and Matas Buzelis. Hield should do the trick.
Insider Jake Fischer figures this might not be the last time that Hield is traded this year, however. Likely due to the fact that he has just $9.6M guaranteed remaining on his deal for this season. A player option for next year at $10M is not guaranteed.
Dillingham, at just 21, will be going into his third NBA season. He was the 8th overall pick in the 2024 Draft by the San Antonio Spurs but has spent his two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Bulls.
