Steph Curry Does Kawhi One Better On Extension

A lot was made about the fact that Kawhi Leonard left $11M on the table in negotiating a two-year, $115 million extension with the Toronto Raptors last week. Now we see that Steph Curry, signing his own two-year extension, has out-Kawhi'd Kawhi, scoring $1M more from the Golden State Warriors with a $116M deal — but he left a full $20M on the table, per reports.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks says, “The savings will give Golden State significant spending power next summer.” The Warriors are projected to have $64 million to spend in the summer of 2027.

Shams Charania reports that "Golden State presented Curry with a slew of options -- max deals, discounted salaries for team-building upside, or waiting into the season or next offseason."

In the end, they agreed on this extension that ends any speculation or rumors on Curry's future heading into the new season, and locks him in to Golden State for his 19th and 20th NBA seasons.

Curry holds the all-time NBA records for most three-pointers attempted and made, as well as the all-time highest free throw shooting mark (91.2%). He has led the Warriors to four NBA titles, with one Finals MVP award.
