Kings Reporters Caught Trashing Ben Simmons & Zach LaVine on Hot Mic

Media Day can often be a dry, predictable affair across the NBA, as players regurgitate lines about being in the best shape of their lives, feeling their team really has a chance this year... Yada, yada, yada.

But in Sacramento on Monday, we got an unexpected gift, as a hot mic during a down period in between player interviews caught three Kings reporters, two female and one male, trashing Ben Simmons and Zach LaVine. 

One of the female reporters was heard saying, “Ben Simmons is cringe, cringe, he’s lucky he’s so fine." Another replied, "He's a good-looking dude... His skin is so fine."  

About LaVine, one of them said, "Zach's cute, but his personality f**king annoys me. He just seems like he’s hella like a prick.”

Not the best way to start off the season for KCRA in Sacramento, which broadcasts select nationally or regionally televised Kings games under the NBC package.

Simmons, 30, is making an NBA comeback after sitting out last season. He's trying to recapture his old All-Star form, but it's been several years, going back to 2021 since he was at that level. Since then he's been a holdout, injury-plagued, and just seemingly disinterested in playing basketball. 

The Kings have been dying to move on from LaVine and his huge contract, but there are no takers for him. 

These reporters will just have to make do covering them. 

The Kings are trying to start anew, with a rebuild, after bottoming out at 22-60 last season.
