After 13 years in the NBA, playing for eight different teams, veteran center Kelly Olynyk is about to make an intriguing choice in free agency. Italian outlets are reporting that the 35-year-old big man is signing with BC Roma.

He has reportedly agreed to terms with the brand new club, set to play its first season in Rome. The club was co-founded by Lakers guard Luka Doncic and former Mavericks general manager Donnie Nelson. It will compete in Italy’s top league (LBA) as well as in the EuroCup (Europe's second-tier competition, below the EuroLeague).

The 7-footer is a floor-stretching five, who hits threes at a 37% clip. He has career averages of 9.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 21.8 minutes per game.

He came just short of an NBA ring last season, playing as a backup for the San Antonio Spurs, who made a run to the Finals before losing to the New York Knicks.

In addition to playing for the Spurs last season, Olynyk has also played in the NBA for the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, Utah Jazz, his hometown Toronto Raptors and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Olynyk is expected to arrive in Rome in time to make his debut in the October 11 derby against Maxima.
