After an extremely contentious offseason, in which Jalen Duren insisted he was "disrespected" by the Detroit Pistons, and threatened to take a one-year qualifying offer, the All-Star center faced the media to open up on how he feels NOW, after signing his five-year, $200 million deal.

"There's been a lot of talk and false narratives around my name this summer...  I pivoted, I took a step back to get away from everything. That was really to get my head right... But I see how my silence created noise, and people were able to speak loosely about me and create whatever narrative they wanted. But now it's time for me to address my truth.

“I'm happy. Super excited to be back... I am a Detroit Piston, I want to be a Detroit Piston for life. I want to give everything I’ve got for this city and the fans. From me to y’all, y’all will have everything I have. Y’all will get everything I can give...

He also acknowledged that his playoff performance was very disappointing. To him, as much as it was to the fans and the organization.

“The way the season ended was humbling. I need to get better. I looked in the mirror and realized I do need to get better. I'm man enough to acknowledge my flaws and to get my a** in the gym and get better."

Duren anchored the 60-win regular-season Pistons team, after being selected All-NBA Third Team, while averaging 19.5 points and 10 rebounds during the 82-game campaign. That dropped off significantly in the playoffs, however, to just 10 points and 8.5 boards.

It sounds like he's ready to put all that, and the controversial offseason, behind him.
