2 Big Scorers On Trade Block in Eastern Conference

For teams looking for some scoring, the Brooklyn Nets have a couple up for grabs. They are reportedly testing the trade market for forwards Julius Randle and Michael Porter Jr. ahead of February's NBA trade deadline, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer via Bleacher Report.

The front office is actively seeking "good trade offers" for both high-profile players, soliciting offers to see if either of them can command a substantial package of future draft capital and young talent.

While both are scoring at better than 21 points per game, they are also gobbling up valuable minutes and shots. The heavy touches that the two veterans require are not doing anything for Brooklyn's younger core, per Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley.

"Their three minutes leaders are all in their age-27 seasons or older. Their offense runs first through 31-year-old Julius Randle and 28-year-old Michael Porter Jr.—two of the more logical trade candidates in the league.

"The developmental minutes and touches that could go to the young players are too often winding up with (arguably) veteran placeholders," Buckley wrote.

After losing their first five games of the season, the Nets have won two of their last three, but let's face it, just letting Porter and Randle go at it to pile up their points isn't really a winning formula for the team going forward.

Conor Liguori of The Sporting News agrees, "The Brooklyn Nets should embrace their youth movement."

Expect a trade of these two vets at some point.
