Domantas Sabonis wants out of Sacramento. This came to light recently, and it appears that the two sides have an agreement to move him elsewhere.

A move is called "inevitable" by Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, though the big man has not demanded a trade.

"It isn't a secret to anyone that Sabonis would prefer a change in scenery, and the Kings have been open to discussing trade opportunities for the three-time All-Star center since last season.

"Sources have described the situation as an 'understanding' between Kings' leadership and Sabonis that a trade is inevitable.

"He would prefer a change in scenery, and he will very likely get his wish over the next three months leading up to the Feb. 11 trade deadline."

The insider goes on to name three teams that will be key suitors on trading for the three-time All-Star center.

  • Toronto Raptors
  • Charlotte Hornets
  • Brooklyn Nets

The Raptors spent many hours discussing a Sabonis trade with the Kings last season, and the Hornets chatted it up with Sacramento as well. "The interest in Sabonis from these two teams has not gone away, sources said, and they are expected to once again monitor Sabonis ahead of February's trade deadline," Siegel wrote.

The Nets have their own big-money veterans they're looking to move, but they too could be in on Sabonis and his $45M+ annual salary for the rest of this year and next.

"We have also heard the Brooklyn Nets' name be brought up in discussions with league personnel as a potential destination for Sabonis," said Siegel. "Of course, this would be contingent on what the Nets can possibly do at the trade deadline with both Michael Porter Jr. and Julius Randle, two players who are expected to generate interest, like Sabonis, from playoff-minded teams."

The Kings have started the season at 1-8 and will certainly be trying to unload Sabonis's contract for some assets.
