San Antonio Spurs Lose Derrick White for the Season

The San Antonio Spurs have announced they will carry on without Derrick White, who will miss the remainder of the season with a right-ankle injury.

White was hurt during Monday's win over the Washington Wizards and head coach Gregg Popovich has confirmed the news via Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News. It's likely White went for an MRI, the team doctor's saw something they didn't like and White was then shut down.

White landed awkwardly on Spurs center Jakob Poeltl's foot as this was some friendly fire that's sidelined the Spurs guard. White's in his fourth season out of Colorado and it's been an injury riddled year as he's already missed 24 games due to a toe injury, a foot problem and some time on the health and safety protocol list. It's a shame because when he's on the court White is producing some career-best numbers with 15.4 ppg and 3.5 assists.

The Spurs will carry on as they are trying to lock down a playoff spot as they try to creep closer to the 6th seed in the Western conference.
