Rumor: Bulls' Laurie Markkanen Wants "Fresh Start" (and 3 Places He Might Land)

Chicago Bulls' restricted free agent Laurie Markkanen is ready to move on; he's tired of being a bench player in the Windy City, and is ready to blow out of town. Markkanen has taken a step in that direction by removing all mention of the Bulls from his social media accounts.

Rumors are swirling that the New Orleans Pelicans and Charlotte Hornets are two leading contenders for his services. But as an RFA, Markkanen only has so much say in the matter. Any offer sheet he signs, the Bulls have three days to match.

Chicago is reportedly asking for a first-round pick to facilitate a signing with the Pelicans. A Bulls-Pels negotiation could be interesting to watch, as both teams are under investigation by the NBA for tampering in the Lonzo Ball signing by the Bulls.

Earlier, the Charlotte Hornets were reported to be ready to make an offer sheet for the sharpshooter, while the Dallas Mavericks are another team that has an inside track on Markkanen, as he had privately expressed interest in joining them earlier this year.

Markkanen is a 7-footer who hit on 40% of his threes this past season, but saw his minutes drop from previous seasons, and finished with a career-low of 13.6 PPG.

With many of the bigger names out of the way, Markkanen is getting a lot of chatter on the free agency vine, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him sign an offer sheet soon.
