NBA Rumors: 2 More Teams Interested In Robert Covington

According to Michael Scotto, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in Portland Trail Blazers forward Robert Covington.

We recently reported about the Jazz being interested in Covington, too, so let's focus on the Cavaliers and Timberwolves solely in this one.

Cleveland has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2021-22 regular season. Most fans expected them to be average to below average, but they've been excellent. Right now, they sport a 29-19 record and are fifth in the Eastern Conference. Yet, they also trail the first-place Miami Heat by just 1.5 games. Therefore, they very much could climb in the standings and get a better playoff spot. With all the injuries that have been piling up for them, it wouldn't hurt them to add Covington.

The Timberwolves are also looking to improve their roster for the postseason. At this time, they have a 24-23 record and are seventh in the Western Conference. Due to this, they aren't locked to make the postseason, so it would be wise for them to make additions at the deadline. Covington could fit in nicely on their roster.

In 44 games this season, Covington is averaging 7.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists. He may not be a full-on star, but he certainly works as a starter. Let's see if Cleveland or Minnesota end up landing him by the deadline.
