NBA Rumors: Jalen Brunson Looking For HUGE Payday To Stay In Dallas

The Dallas Mavericks came into the season desperate to find some point guard help to take some of the playmaking load off Luka Doncic. They found it right under their noses, as Jalen Brunson has emerged as a big-time option. But he's an impending free agent, and word today is that he'll be looking for a 4-year, $80M deal this summer.

According to NBA insider Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, Brunson is "believed by many" to be looking for that large payday, even though, "several competing executives think (he) is too big of a target defensively in the playoffs."

Brunson is having a career year offensively, at 16 points per game, along with 5.6 assists.

The Mavericks will have to seriously consider their options as the trade deadline approaches, as they also have another soon-to-be free agent in Dorian Finney-Smith, also having a strong season. Both players are said to have strong interest on the trade market, and it's highly unlikely they will be able to sign both this offseason.

The Mavs are in strong pursuit, themselves, of another big man, said to be in talks with Indiana over Myles Turner, and with Atlanta over John Collins. At least one of Brunson and/or Finney-Smith will be assets they can use in a trade of that magnitude.
