NBA Rumors: Montrezl Harrell To The Detroit Pistons

The Washington Wizards currently occupy the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference and should be buyers rather than sellers ahead of the NBA's Trade Deadline on February 10th.  One player that is said to be of interest is the Detroit Pistons' Jerami Grant, a versatile player who has really broken out during his tenure in Detroit.  The 6'8" forward is averaging roughly 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block in 33 minutes per game this season, and is said to have plenty of admirers in rival NBA front offices.

In order to make a potential deal for Grant, the Wizards will likely have to part with either Deni Avdija and/or Rui Hachimura, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, with Montrezl Harrell's expiring $9.7 million contract likely being used to help match up salaries with Grant's healthy $20,002,500.00 cap hit.  In the same report, Fischer mentioned that Harrell has been considered available for trade according to league sources, but the Wizards will need to include his expiring contact if they have any chance of acquiring Grant without breaking up their core group of players signed beyond this season.

If a deal with the Pistons can't be reached, contending teams like the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls could also be interested in the athletic center, but it's likely the Wizards would prefer to move Harrell to a team that they won't potentially be playing in the first round of the playoffs.
