NBA Rumors: Pistons Have Interest In Knicks' Big Man

With 8 losses in 10 games, the entire league knows the New York Knicks are looking to shake things up. Their star player is bickering with fans, media, and now video coordinators, and the team needs to make some moves before Thursday's trade deadline.

According to Knicks NBA Insider Ian Begley, the Detroit Pistons are ready to capitalize, as they've expressed interest in center Mitchell Robinson, per Begley's SNY sources

Robinson has certainly been stepping up his game of late, at both ends of the court. “The rim protection is elite," said head coach Tom Thibodeau, as witnessed in this rejection on one of the most unstoppable forces at the rim this season:

"Offensively, putting pressure on the rim has been really good," continued Tibs. "Finishing through contact has been really, really good. Very pleased overall with his progress and I think there’s a lot of room for growth."

The question, however, is what team will that growth be with? The 4th-year player has been eligible for an extension all season, but it has yet to be offered. He could become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

At 23 years old, Robinson fits nicely into the Pistons' timeline, as they're rebuilding with young players like Cade Cunningham (20), Saddiq Bey (22) and Isaiah Steward (22).

Something to watch as Thursday's deadline approaches, as Begley notes. "Robinson has fans in the Pistons organization."
