Lakers To Sign Forward

The Los Angeles Lakers are set to sign Wenyan Gabriel to a two-way contract.

Before the deal with Gabriel is complete, the Lakers will need to release either Mason Jones or Sekou Doumbouya, as they have to free up a two-way spot. Once they make that decision, Gabriel's contract with the team will be official.

Gabriel has signed a few 10-day deals this season. In seven games between the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers, he averaged 2.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.3 assists. Now, the 24-year-old could have the opportunity to build on these numbers with the Lakers.

Gabriel will provide the Lakers with more depth at the forward position. They certainly can use all they can get right now. At this point of the season, they have a 27-33 record and are 9th in the Western Conference. As an attempt to turn things around, they also waived DeAndre Jordan and signed D.J. Augustin.

In 58 career games between the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, Nets, and Clippers, Gabriel has averaged 2.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per contest.
