NBA Rumors: OG Anunoby Linked To 2 Teams For Potential Trade

There seems to be some "trade chatter" making the rounds in the NBA involving Toronto Raptors' defensive powerhouse OG Anunoby. According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, Anunoby "grew dissatisfied at times with his role in Toronto, where (Rookie of the Year Scottie) Barnes joined Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet as the primary ball-handlers in Nick Nurse's offense."

At the same time, Fischer made sure to note that "two sources with knowledge of the dynamic told B/R that Anunoby has not directly expressed discontent with his situation with the Raptors." On top of that, Fischer called OG a "Masai Ujiri darling", making any potential deals a difficult hill to climb for any suitors.

Fischer says that league personnel have linked two teams to the possibility of making a push for OG: The Utah Jazz and the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Raptors have long coveted a true center to add to their burgeoning mix of long 6'8"-6'9" core pieces. The Jazz are looking for a way to solve their Rudy Gobert-Donovan Mitchell dilemma. While unlikely because of salary-matching issues, Gobert and Anunoby could be the start of some discussions, says Fischer.

As for Portland, Anunoby is considered one of their prime targets, along with Jeremi Grant of the Detroit Pistons, in their search to add another star player to pair with Damian Lillard.

A trade of Anunoby is far from a certainty, and Fischer, in fact, says the chatter has likely "has been driven more by external interest in acquiring the fifth-year forward's services."
