Warriors' James Wiseman Inching Closer To Return

The former No. 2 pick in the NBA Draft, James Wiseman, hasn't played in over a year. Now, according to NBA Insiders Shams Charania and Anthony Slater, his return is getting closer.

The Athletic is reporting that the Warriors "are now optimistic he could return to action during NBA Summer League in July."

Wiseman went down with a torn meniscus during his rookie season, and had surgery to repair it in April, 2021. But ongoing soreness and swelling led to another procedure in December, keeping him out for the entire 2021-22 season.

He did play some G League games back in March, but swelling in the knee shut him down once again.

Wiseman is now increasing his basketball activities, and is nearing clearance for full-contact workouts.

Charania and Slater report that a final determination on his Summer League status will come within the next two weeks.
