Donovan Mitchell: "Who Doesn't Want To Be Home, Next To Their Mom?"

Donovan Mitchell is "truly excited" to be with the Cleveland Cavaliers. At his introductory press conference Wednesday afternoon, he said so. But he also said he was as shocked as the rest of us that he wasn't traded to the New York Knicks—his hometown team.

"I thought it was New York, I’m not gonna lie to y’all. Who doesn't want to be home, next to their mom?"

He also admits that he knew, early in the offseason, that a trade was coming, wherever it was.

"Once Rudy (Gobert) got traded, I kind of saw the writing on the wall. I think we all did... I had a feeling I was going to get moved."

But we've all seen the throwback picture Mitchell posted of himself, wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey as a kid.

He was a fan of LeBron and the Cavs at the age of 5 or 6, and he is indeed thrilled to be there now.
"I'm truly excited to be here, to be a part of this group, to be a part of this city... I love playing in this arena." And he couldn't contain his excitement when he first found out about the trade, on the golf course.

"I was running around, crazy. Mainly when I figured out who we kept," referring to the fact that the Cavs didn't have to trade any of their core pieces, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. "I was like, wow, we've got a talented group."

It's official now; he's even got his new threads.
