Free Agent Centers Still Available Going Into The Season

15-man rosters will be locked for all NBA teams Monday at 5:00pm ET. With almost all teams already set for opening night, it means there are several big-name free agents still looking for a job.

One of the biggest names is at the forward position, which we examined here

The center position, especially, is rife with former All-Stars that remain without a team heading into the new season. Here's the full list, with their ages in parentheses:

  • LaMarcus Aldridge (age 37)
  • Charles Bassey (22)
  • Willie Cauley-Stein (29)
  • DeMarcus Cousins (32)
  • Ed Davis (33)
  • Enes Freedom (30)
  • Dwight Howard (37)
  • Meyers Leonard (30)
  • Greg Monroe (32)
  • Tristan Thompson (31)
  • Killian Tillie (25)
  • Hassan Whiteside (33)
  • Cody Zeller (30)
  • Cauley-Stein was a late addition to this list, as the 7-year veteran 7-footer was waived by the Houston Rockets on the weekend.

Dwight Howard is the most decorated of the available big men, with 8 All-Star appearances, 8 All-NBA honors, 5 All-Defensive Team honors, and 3 Defensive Player of the Year awards.

DeMarcus Cousins is also on this list, despite his recent pleading to return to the league. Boogie is a 4-time All-Star whose career was derailed by a number of serious injuries.

Hassan Whiteside and Tristan Thompson are 10+ year veterans who also have plenty still to offer a team in a backup role.

LaMarcus Aldridge, at 37, is a 7-time All-Star, but he is thought to be ready to retire.
