NBA Rumors: Hawks To Explore Shocking Trade Possibility This Summer

The status of the Atlanta Hawks going forward is very much still up in the air. With a new head coach still yet to be hired, and the team struggling to stay around .500 this season, rumors have been swirling around the club.

The latest comes from Jared Weiss of The Athletic, who says the Hawks are going to look into trading their franchise player, Trae Young.

“I expect that Atlanta is going to start exploring it, and it’s going start getting out this summer," said Weiss.

Young has had somewhat of a frustrating season, as he's shooting a career-low 32.4% from 3-point range, and just 42.8% from the floor. He had a well-documented confrontation with head coach Nate McMillan (who was fired earlier this week), which resulted in Young basically deciding not to show up for the Hawks' next game.

Atlanta expected big things this season after bringing in Dejounte Murray in a splashy summer trade, hoping that a dual All-Star backcourt would lift them to new heights.

But the Hawks sit in 8th spot in the Eastern Conference, at 29-30, and are searching for a new head coach.

One name has emerged as a front-runner, as the Hawks are accelerating talks.
