NBA Rumors: 3 Possible Trade Partners For Damian Lillard

With Damian Lillard shut down for the year after another disappointing season for the Portland Trail Blazers, trade talk will ramp up once again for the Blazers' superstar. He's already made his unhappiness with another losing season known.

There are a number of teams that would earnestly enter the discussions on a Lillard trade, and NBA Radio on Sirius XM's Frank Isola and Brian Scalabrine had at it to discuss the most likely candidates. Damian Lillard to..? 👀

Let's go over the three most likely suitors:

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets were forced to divest themselves of not one, but two superstars this season, trading both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Although their experience with such stars has been a total disaster in recent years (add James Harden and Ben Simmons to the equation), they might very well enter the bidding to nab another big name like Lillard. Certainly, they've got a lot of assets after the KD and Kyrie trades.

New York Knicks

"The Knicks have to roll the dice on Damian Lillard," said Isola. "Lillard and Brunson backcourt..." His partner Scalabrine suggest that they'd have to package up a lot of salary to equal Lillard's pricey contract. "You don't worry about it, they'll make it happen," replied Isola.

The Knicks tried for a superstar last offseason, but fell short in the Donovan Mitchell sweepstakes.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks, who have been in a major slide since acquiring Irving, are now unlikely to pursue re-signing Kyrie in the offseason, seeing the mess that the team has been since his arrival.

But how about another big-time scorer to pair with Luka Doncic? One with character that just might be a much better sidekick for Luka? Mark Cuban already took one swing at a co-star for Doncic, why not take another?
