Utah Jazz Sign Former NBA First Round Pick

The Utah Jazz are continuing to massage their roster as the season comes down the stretch. They're going to take a look at a Croatian big man who hasn't appeared in the NBA since the 2020-21 season.

Bruising power forward Luka Samanic has agreed to a 10-day contract with the Jazz, after spending the season with the Maine Celtics of the G League. Samanic has been putting up some big numbers there, averaging 20.6 points and 10.8 rebounds in 17 Showcase Cup games, and putting up 22 points and 8.1 rebounds in 27 regular season games.

Last year in the G League, he was even more dominant, posting 27.9 points and 10.6 rebounds for the Westchester Knicks.

At 6'10", 227 pounds, the big man was the 19th overall selection in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. He played parts of two seasons there, averaging 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in only 10 minutes per game across 36 contests.

He'll have 10 days to show the Jazz what he can do.
