NBA Rumors: Dillon Brooks Is “Realistic” Option For This Team

When it comes to free agency this summer, one of the players who'll be making the most noise around the NBA (for a number of reasons) will be Dillon Brooks. The self-professed "villain" and super-pest will get some looks from teams after the Memphis Grizzlies decided they want nothing more to do with him.

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, one team that is a "realistic option" for Brooks is the Houston Rockets.

Dillon Brooks, last seen as Memphis’ starting small forward, is another Rockets target, sources told Yahoo Sports, and appears to be a more realistic candidate to join Houston this summer.

Brooks, 27, wore out his welcome in Memphis with his fiery antics on and off the court, becoming too much of a distraction for the team (who already have plenty of distractions with the impending suspension of Ja Morant). But the Rockets are trying to get back into the conversation around the league, and could use a player with his defensive toughness on the wing. He was named to the NBA's All-Defensive second team this past season, though his scoring tailed off, from 18.4 points in 2021-22 to just 14.3 this past season.

Many NBA scouts have indeed speculated that Brooks would be a good fit for the rebuilding Rockets under new head coach Ime Udoka. There have also been a couple of other teams linked to Brooks, so it'll be interesting to see where he takes his act next.
