NBA Hits Dillon Brooks Where It Hurts With Discipline For Reckless Act

The NBA has hit Dillon Brooks where it hurts, for... hitting Daniel Theis where it hurts. The league has fined the Houston Rockets new supervillian $25,000 for his whack in the groin on Theis during their preseason game with the Indiana Pacers.

Brooks was able to play less than five minutes for his new team before his disruptive and sometimes dirty reputation took him out of the game.

The NBA statement said the fine was for "recklessly making contact" with Theis in the groin area. Brooks was assessed a Flagrant Foul 2 and ejected from the game.

Many observers are calling the addition of the defensive hound a good move by the Rockets, but he'll have to stay on the court for longer than five minutes to have any impact.

The Memphis Grizzlies wanted nothing to do with Brooks' antics anymore after last season, and said he wouldn't be returning as a free agent "under any circumstances."

We'll see if new Houston coach Ime Udoka can strike the right 'circumstances', and right balance of tenacity and aggressiveness with some form of control.
