Hawks Rumors: Atlanta Sets Sky-High Trade Price for Dejounte Murray

Dejounte Murray is one of the top names available at this year’s trade deadline, and the Atlanta Hawks are certainly aware of that fact. With demand sky-high for their all-star combo guard, the Hawks have set the price tag sky-high as well—asking for two first-round picks for Murray.

“From people I’ve spoken with, the Hawks are asking for two firsts in return for Murray, who would prefer to join a team with a chance to make an immediate playoff run. So far, no one has met their demands,” writes Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.

One team that O’Connor mentions that does have the type of first-round picks that Atlanta will be looking for is, ironically, the team that made Murray an All-Star in 2022 and sent him to the Hawks in the first place, the San Antonio Spurs. Yes, the Spurs still have the two first-rounders that Atlanta sent them in the Murray trade, but whether they'd be willing to surrender them now is unknown. Getting rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama another strong point guard to play with sounds like a pretty sensible move.

Among the top contenders around the league who are said to be in the mix for Murray, it remains to be seen which ones would be willing and able to pony up two first-rounders that would be to the Hawks' liking.

Murray is having another strong season with the Hawks, boosting his trade value, averaging 21.1 points, 4.6 boards and 4.9 assists while shooting a very strong 39% from three-point range.
