Raptors Pull Off Another Deal, Trading Dennis Schroder

In a move obviously designed to clear out future money, the Toronto Raptors have sent point guard Dennis Schröder to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for the expiring contract of Spencer Dinwiddie, as the main components of a larger deal.

The Raptors also send venerable veteran big man Thad Young to Brooklyn as part of the deal. But according to an earlier report by Shams Charania, Dennis Smith Jr. is NOT a part of this deal.

Schroder was signed to a 2-year, $26 million deal last offseason to replace Fred VanVleet at the point, but they've since obtained their supposed point guard of the future of Immanuel Quickley in the OG Anunoby trade with the New York Knicks.

In addition, Schroder's $13M for next season has been turned into Dinwiddie’s more expensive $20.4M, which opens up a bunch more potential cap space this summer.

Dinwiddie will be bought out by Toronto and hit the buyout market.
