NBA Trade Rumors: Brandon Ingram Tied To Eastern Conference Contender

After going down to a sweep in the first round of the playoffs, the New Orleans Pelicans will be looking to change things up this summer, according to reports. One star that could be on the way out is Brandon Ingram. He has one year remaining on his 5-year deal that will pay him $36 million in 2024-25. He is eligible for an extension this summer that the Pels may not be willing to go hand out.

One team that could be looking to trade for him, per reports, is the Cleveland Cavaliers. Grant Afseth of the NBA Analysis Network tells us that the Cavs will be looking to improve their wing scoring this offseason, as they had a huge dropoff at that position after Donovan Mitchell.

Among the potential trade targets that could be of interest is Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans, to provide another reliable scoring threat on the wing next to Donovan Mitchell, per various league sources. The Cavaliers struggled with receiving reliable wing scoring this season.

Ingram would be a massive upgrade on the likes of Isaac Okoro and Caris LeVert. The Pelicans' former All-Star averaged 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.7 assists this season while shooting 35.5% from three-point range.

The 26-year-old was an All-Star in 2019-20 in his first season in The Big Easy after The Big Trade from the LA Lakers for Anthony Davis.

For his career, Ingram averages 19.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists.

The Cavs are making the rumor mill on a number of fronts aside from being interested in Ingram. Mitchell is also eligible for an extension this summer, and while there is confidence that he could sign, there are a number of big-name teams waiting in the wings to jump on a trade for Spida if the Cavs can't sign him.

Cleveland is also said to be potentially facing a trade demand from another one of their top players, depending on what happens with Mitchell.
