Breaking NBA Free Agent Signing: Brook Lopez Leaves Bucks & Heads West
Brook Lopez was one of the top big men available on the free agent market, and as expected, he has left the Milwaukee Bucks and is headed to LA.
But it’s not the Los Angeles team that everyone had been expecting, as Lopez has signed with the LA Clippers, not the Lakers.
Free agent center Brook Lopez has agreed to a two-year, $18 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, sources tell ESPN. Clippers and Lopez's agents at Wasserman negotiate a new deal for the 2021 Bucks champion to exit Milwaukee and land in Los Angeles. pic.twitter.com/vmxiXtoGqu

It’s a two year, $18 million deal for the 7’1” rim-protector and floor spacing center.
Lopez was a key cog in the Bucks’ 2021 NBA championship, and in fact for his entire seven-year run in Milwaukee. He was a two-time All-NBA Defensive Team member, and a runner up for Defensive Player of the Year just two seasons ago.
The 37-year-old was born and bred in Los Angeles, so it's a homecoming for him. He will now be backup for Clippers starter at center, Ivica Zubac. It's an unfamiliar role for Lopez, who has been a starter for pretty much the entirety of his 18-year career.
