NBA Rumors: Brook Lopez Finished in Milwaukee; 3 Destinations in Free Agency

He's been a mainstay at center for the Milwaukee Bucks for seven years. A two-time NBA All-Defensive Team member, and a runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year. And don't forget, a World Champion. But it appears that Brook Lopez's days in Milwaukee are done.

NBA Insider Matt Moore wrote on Monday, "I’m not expecting the roster to look the way it does now. The team is likely to retain Kevin Porter Jr., and most everyone I’ve spoken to assumes Brook Lopez is gone. Lopez might be one of the bigger names on the market.”

3 Teams That Are Potential Landing Spots for Brook Lopez

Let's take a look at three of the most likely destinations for Lopez as a free agent:

LA Lakers

Legit starting centers are at a premium in the NBA, with many teams who fancy themselves as a contender in need of one. Count the LA Lakers among that group, for instance, as they have been linked to the unrestricted free agent big man. The Lakers have been in need of a center ever since they traded Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic (but no, they're not regretting that deal in any way, shape or form!).

Golden State Warriors

Another team looking to get back to the Finals that has a hole in the middle. The Dubs could certainly use a 7-footer with size who can defend and spread the floor like Lopez. He shot 37.3% from three-point land this past season, while averaging 1.9 blocked shots (his career average in that category). He would be a tremendous complement to Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.

Atlanta Hawks

After years of trade rumors, Clint Capela is finally a free agent, and could very well be departing the Hawks this summer. He is no longer their go-to guy in the middle. The Hawks are handing over the starting center's job to Onyeka Okongwu, 24, the former 6th overall pick who has been improving each and every one of his five years in the league, and had a terrific season this year. But at 6'8", and not a shooter, the youngster Okongwu would be well-served having the 7'1" veteran Lopez sharing the duties in the middle. It would be a perfect complement.
