Raptors Trade Rumors: Toronto Open To Trading 3 Big-Name Players for 'Significant' Roster Upgrade
The Toronto Raptors have had their name floating around the periphery of some of the superstar trade targets this spring, being linked to potential Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant trade pushes. Now we're getting word from insider Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, that the Raptors are open to trading any of RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and Jakob Poeltl in order to land the significant upgrade they're craving.
“Sources say that the Raptors would be willing to part with either RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley for a significant roster upgrade," writes Fischer. The Toronto Raptors are reportedly open to trading RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and Jakob Poeltl, per @JakeLFischer

"Several league figures with knowledge of the Raptors' thinking have likewise asserted that they could show a willingness to move center Jakob Poeltl as well ... provided that the trade in question brought back Durant.”
Raptors president Masai Ujiri has shown in the past that he is not averse to trading key players to try to take a big swing at being a championship contender. His 2018 trade of franchise icon DeMar DeRozan in exchange for superstar Kawhi Leonard led the team to its 2019 NBA title. And even though Kawhi left in free agency after that season, Raptors fans would all tell you it was well worth the gamble.
But a 37-year-old Kevin Durant with an extensive injury history in recent years is a different story than a 27-year-old, in his prime, Leonard.
The Toronto-born Barrett has two more seasons to run with an AAV of $28 million on his contract, Quickley just began his 5 year, $162.5 million deal last season, and Poeltl has two years remaining on his $19.5 million annual deal, with a player option on the last year. Barrett and Quickley were the Raptors' return in the OG Anunoby trade with the NY Knicks.
This reporting would seem to indicate that Scottie Barnes is not one of the names the Raptors are willing to discuss in trades.
