Two Frontrunners Emerging for Jonathan Kuminga Sign-and-Trade

Calling Jonathan Kuminga's future with the Golden State Warriors "uncertain", insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype indicates that two teams have emerged as the two frontrunners to acquire the pending restricted free agent in a sign-and-trade.

The Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat are two teams "to monitor," writes Scotto.

Given Kuminga’s fluctuating role with the Warriors following the acquisition of Jimmy Butler, his lukewarm relationship with coach Steve Kerr, and being discussed in trade talks before the deadline to land Kevin Durant that ultimately fell through, there’s a belief a change of scenery could be in the cards this summer.

The Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat are two teams to monitor as potential sign-and-trade candidates for Kuminga, league sources told HoopsHype.

Scotto points out that the Warriors showed trade interest in Bulls center Nikola Vucevic at the deadline, and that would still seem to be a target that makes sense for the Dubs, who are looking for a legitimate scoring and floor-spacing center.

For the Heat, however, Scotto reveals that Kuminga would only be a "fallback option" if they aren't able to acquire a superstar like Giannis Antetokounmpo or Kevin Durant. Giannis is now likely not available, and according to a recent report, the Phoenix Suns apparently have zero interest in Miami's latest offer for KD.

Plenty of machinations still to come as the NBA quickly approaches the trade & free agent season. One major blockbuster featuring four unprotected first-round picks has already taken place.
