Breaking: Giannis Antetokounmpo Quietly Drops Huge Decision on His Future

Giannis Antetokounmpo makes statement about his future

There was no big press conference, no big insider leak. Just a non-English speaking interview with a Brazilian news outlet, in which Giannis Antetokounmpo laid out his apparent plans for the future.

The Greek Freak said, about watching his friend Pascal Siakam in the NBA Finals compete against the OKC Thunder,  “The Finals are different, I hope to be back soon with the Bucks."

That would be the Milwaukee Bucks. The team he won the championship with in 2021. And the team that everyone has been suggesting that Giannis will ask out of this summer.

It doesn't sound like that's going to happen.

Will Giannis Antetokounmpo stay with the Milwaukee Bucks?

As insider Evan Sidery says, "Giannis quietly just shut down all the noise that he will be looking to leave Milwaukee soon."

There had been rumors this summer that Antetokounmpo might have been open to moving on from the Bucks after their fourth straight year of playoff failures (just one series win) since winning the title in 2021.

Since then, teams like the New York Knicks (with a 'tsunami-type offer), the Toronto Raptors (where his good family friend Masai Ujiri resides), and the two Texas teams, the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets, have been linked to a Giannis trade.

But it doesn't sound like any of that is on the table at this point.

Antetokounmpo, the two-time NBA MVP and Finals MVP from 2021, is still at the top of his game at the age of 30, having cracked the 30-point per game barrier for the third straight season, averaging 30.1 to go with 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.2 blocked shots.

The Bucks finished 5th in the Eastern Conference this past year, at 48-34, but bowed out in the first round of the playoffs for the third straight season, this time in five games to the Indiana Pacers.

But it appears that Giannis is prepared to give them one more chance to build a winner around him.
