Breaking: Knicks Name New Head Coach

After a long, exhaustive search, the New York Knicks have made their decision on their next head coach, replacing the departed Tom Thibodeau. The team will be naming two-time NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown to the desirable post.

Brown has a 454-304 career record as a head coach, and was a three-time NBA champion as an assistant coach. He won NBA Coach of the Year in 2009 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and again in 2023 with the Sacramento Kings.

Per James L. Edwards III in The Athletic, "The New York Knicks wanted experience when looking for Tom Thibodeau’s replacement, per league sources, and that’s why Brown is now their guy."

After being spurned by Dallas and Houston in trying to interview their current head coaches (Jason Kidd and Ime Udoka, respectively), the Knicks' search led them to a coach who's had plenty of experience in the spotlight.

Knicks insider Ian Begley gives us a little intel on Brown, saying "He likes to work his teams hard, I've been told. They practice a lot. That would be a departure from Thibodeau, because he did not practice a ton, especially during the regular season."
