According to investigator Pablo Torre, Leonard reportedly signed a $28M endorsement with a fraudulent tree-planting company funded by Clippers owner Steve Ballmer "to circumvent the salary cap rules."
The controversy is centered around a now-bankrupt "green" financial services company called Aspiration. It was a "no-show" job for Leonard, as he was paid while never performing any endorsements for the company.
The Clippers have denied the allegations, and say there was no misconduct by the team, Kawhi or Ballmer.
Torre, however, told NBA Radio today that he indeed "has the documents" to prove his report.

Interestingly, a report from another insider adds that Leonard also tried to extort more endorsement money out of the Toronto Raptors back in 2019 after entering free agency following winning the NBA championship with them.
Kawhi Leonard reportedly asked Toronto’s owner Larry Tanenbaum to line up an extra $15M in endorsements when deciding his free agency, per @Gambo987 pic.twitter.com/JDtapeGirb

The NBA is now investigating, and if found guilty by the league, the Clippers could face millions in fines, the forfeiture of draft picks and more. What would happen with Leonard and his current contract is up in the air.
