Is A Westbrook / Durant Reunion Coming in Houston?

Russell Westbrook is still the highest-profile free agent without a job, as the NBA preseason is in full swing. A couple of teams were interested during the summer, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside.

Now, Russ's former OKC teammate, Kevin Durant, admits that a possible reunion with Westbrook with the Houston Rockets would be A-OK with him.

According to Julian Ojeda of ClutchPoints, Kevin Durant appeared on the Up & Adams Show on Wednesday morning and was asked about his old pal:

"Russ is a legend. I think he deserves to be in the NBA right now and I think he deserves to walk out of the NBA on his terms. So yeah, that would be dope. But it's not my decision."

But Durant denied any personal intel or insider information about the possibility.

"I don't have no clue. I haven't asked anybody about that. I heard that too. (But) That hasn't been brought to my desk. And usually, when stuff like that happens, it's pretty loud."

The 37-year-old Durant arrived in Houston this summer himself, via trade from the Phoenix Suns. And it just so happens that the Rockets lost their starting point guard, Fred VanVleet, to a season-ending injury just before camp began. So there's definitely a job opening.

For now, multi-talented star Amen Thompson might get the lead guard designation, or they could give a big opportunity to a recent No. 3 overall draft pick, Reed Sheppard.

As for Westbrook, he and Durant worked together for eight years with the Thunder, and they took OKC all the way to the Finals in 2012, and three other Conference Finals.

But according to Bobby Marks of ESPN, first-apron issues for Houston would prevent them from signing Russ until January:

Russ spent last season with the Denver Nuggets, but opted out of his $3.4 million player option despite having a nice year and good fit with Nikola Jokic & Co.
