Shams Drops 3 HUGE Names That Could Change Teams Next Summer

LeBron James, LA Lakers

With the trade deadline still a ways away, we need something to spice things up on the NBA rumor mill. And today, we got it, as noted insider Shams Charania dropped three huge names that could change teams by next summer.

Appearing on the Flagrant podcast, Charania said we all need to keep an eye on the futures of Trae Young, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and LeBron James.

"Trae Young, keep an eye on him... Trae didn't extend his contract in the offseason. He's got one year left, he could hit free agency next summer. He could stay in Atlanta, but he's gonna have a market." We've already looked at a proposed 3-team swap that would take Trae to the Western Conference.

As for Giannis, this dance has been ongoing for a while now. The Knicks are said to be his first choice if he decided to leave Milwaukee, but other teams will throw everything but the kitchen sink into the mix to try to land the Greek Freak. He's still under contract with the Bucks for two more seasons after this one, at a $60M AAV, but if he asks out, Milwaukee will have to oblige him.

And then there's LeBron:

Could LeBron James finish his career outside of LA?

“We still don’t know where LeBron James is gonna be…," said Shams. "Is he gonna finish his career with the Lakers, or is he gonna be somewhere else? I still think it’s very much up in the air…

"I don’t think he knows exactly how the end is going to play out. Could it be with the Lakers? Sure, but he’s a free agent at the end of the season. So if he's gonna continue to play, there's clearly a chance that's it's somewhere else."

James has yet to play this season, as he deals with a right sciatica injury. His return is thought to be not far away.

The drama will continue to ramp up throughout the season, as those three teams in particular, the Hawks, Bucks and Lakers, see how things are playing out. And if the season doesn't go well... all three could be fair game around the league.
